Have you seen real Horseplay in action? Come walk with me, down a quiet lane between two lush grass filled paddocks. Not far in front we can see two horses standing quietly together, under the shade of a big oak tree. We stop and watch them. We can feel it, the wind has whipped up a little, and it has tickled their imagination. The lean athletic bay horse nudges the side of the broader older horse. With manes blowing freely these two paddock mates suddenly rear up, stand tall on their hind legs, doing their best Hi Ho Silver ….. Away impersonation and engaging in what looks like the final bout with Muhammad Ali. They circle, they shadow, they leap, they kick out their hind legs directly at the other, and they even squeal as one takes a nip that lands on the others butt – ouch! Their necks work like snakes as they dart their open jaws and exposed teeth towards the others lower legs and throat! The sight of 1000 pounds of horseflesh darting, twisting, exploding every which way is frightening, yet breathtaking. Just moments ago these soft of eye, curious ear, incredibly sensitive animals that can twitch their skin to dislodge a fly, these seemingly sedentary mates turned into elite athletic rodeo broncos! Hooves glance but a hairs distance from the others head. So close you anticipate the sound of the thwack of bone against bone and blood to flow any moment. For sure you expect this will end in tears! Yet they both know with exquisite precision exactly where their weapons are, those powerful hooves and those razor sharp teeth. Then it hits you – your own eureka moment. In watching nature at play you realise that this isn’t an Ali fight at all. It is infact equine butterflies dancing the most exquisite mental health happy tango that you’ve ever seen. Then when the dance is done they holster their prancing dancing hooves for another day and get on with their other daily dose of HorsePLAY, that of ‘you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours’. Facing head to tail, calmly back under the shade of that favorite big oak tree, they commence using their teeth to scratch their mates hard to get at spots and mutually groom each other. The Przewalski horse which became extinct in 1969 but through use of DNA and special breeding and protection programs was reintroduced into the wild only a few years ago from which we now have a few thousand to build up bigger populations.

How’s it work ?
The winner of the gae mis the one who gets the most points.
Points are won each time you answer the trivia questions right, stay out of trouble with the crossroads questions, identify that picture in the gallery correctly – what is that thing? And mime, sing and laugh your way to winning lots of points. Extra fun
